Way Library sixth place in national rating

E-mail Print PDF

Way Public Library once again has been recognized as one of the top 100 libraries in the country. The recently released 2010 Hennen's American Public Library Ratings (HAPLR) ranks Way in 6th place out of 1,764 libraries in its service area population category (10,000-25,000). In the 2009 edition, Way was ranked 10th in this division.

In all, the Hennen system ranks more than 9,000 libraries in 15 areas using federal data. Thomas J. Hennen, Jr. developed the rating system 10 years ago, and it has become widely recognized as a method to compare public libraries across the nation. A competing system, the Library Journal Index, was initiated this year, and it compared public libraries with others having similar annual expenditures. Way Library received a top-10 or "5 Star" ranking in this new index as well.
